Fat is Not Equal to Ugly

Eveytime I’ve said that I wanted to lose weight, people resound with “No! Why would you do that? You’re beautiful already!” It is as though “fat” is synonimous with “ugly”. It is not. “Fat” is factual. It should not been seen as an insult or a put down because it isn’t, not really. Unfortunately, it’s been redefined.
I have fat. I would say about half my body is fat, the upper half to be more specific. My legs are predominantly muscle, my torso is predominantly fat. I don’t count boobs, they are a different entitiy. But my short body contains a fair amount of fat, that is just a fact. I’m not terribly unhealthy, I’m decently active, and I’m squishy. I’d rather not have it, but saying I’m “slender” isn’t going to make it disappear. However, I am not just defined by my body squish. Nobody should be. I’m not ugly because I have fat, just as I wouldn’t be ugly if I didn’t. There are people who have a lot of weight on them and it’s for a plethora of reasons. Some folk were just born big, others gain easily because of genetics, some is through bad diet, whilst others is from medications. There are people that are fat and still healthly just as there are poeple who are skinny and unhealthy. Bodies are weird and diverse and don’t always show the truth on the outside.
There are people who are considered “skinny fat”, those with tiny skeletal frames but bodies made up of mostly fat. So, technically, they are fat, but since their overall build is so small, it’s looked over. Even if they have never done a  physical activity in their life and only eat junk food, no one would go to someone who looks like that and call them fat in a derogetory way. Yet, there are big boned, large breasted, curvaceous individuals who are singers, performers, dancers, athletes that are called “disgustingly obese”. Despite being significantly healthier and more active than the aforementioned, these people are body shamed. I’m not saying we should start ridiculing the so-called skinny fat bearers, I’m saying that fat shaming as a form of stating beauty standards is so surface level that it’s stupid. Deciding that someone who looks big, is fat, and for that they are ugly is comepletely nonsensical. Ugliness doesn’t discriminate, nor does beauty. What does descriminate is ignorant idgets that have nothing better to do than critisize others by taking a factual statement and turning it into something negative and shameful.
Being fat does not rid a person of beauty. Beauty is subjective, contrary to what society wants you to think. If someone wants to lose weight or gain weight it should not change their value as a person. Not to mention, IT SHOULDN’T FREAKING MATTER WHAT SOMEONE ELSE DOES WITH THEIR BODY BECAUSE IT DOESN’T BELONG TO ANYONE BUT THEM! The only time concern should be shown is, if another person seems to be decreasing in health by their own doing and you are genuinly worried about them.
Me wanting to lose weight is not me thinking I’m ugly. I just want to be healthy and better my body. That should be the goal of everyone. Regardless of their size, if people aspire to do right by their bodies, that should be enough. Bone structures and muscle builds vary so much in people that roasting them on their appearance is shallow and foolish.
Instead of buying into this warped definition of “fat”, we should rid it of it’s insulting power and rebirth it as it once was, a descriptor. If a larger percent of someone is made up of fat, I would consider them fat, but that would not determine for me their beauty or lack thereof. I wouldn’t do that because those two things do not go hand in hand. Again, beauty is subjective, but, if fat people make you internally yarp, keep it to yourself because they could look like a goddess to someone else. Your personal opinion is not held by everyone. The only time we should worry about someones weight is if we are concerned for their health. If it gets to that point, I should hope there is a conversation first about how this person’s body functions so a clear picture is painted and concerns have more validity.
All of my friends are beautiful, and none of them have the same amount of fat as each other. They all have different builds and shapes and none of them are ugly despite few of them being skinny. Fat is not equal to ugly.

Hullo. Welcome to my brain that is predominantly made up of rants and sprinkled with a few life observations.
